Recently I was taking a personality test out of interest, as I was looking for a career change and wondering what would be a good course to take.
Then I started to think if personality is connected with a tendancy to develop BPD under stressful conditions or in triggering situations.
When you think about it, in other cultures shaman are protected from the stresses of everyday life because of their sensitivities, instead of making them conform to living "normally". In my opinion folks should try and understand who people are and not make them fit the mold.
I thought it might me a cool experiment to see what personality types folks with bipolar turn out to be...so if anyone feels like having a go, please do, and post your results here.
This test is based on the work of Jung, on personality types

who was also fascinatd by synchronicity (one of my fave subjects)

(a bit more about the guy here:

Here's the test...it's very quick:

When you get your results you can check out more details of your type here for free:

Mine is INFJ by the way..

Hi Bendeecat,
I found answering some of the questions a little difficult because I could have given two different answers depending on the mood I am was in. My type definitely sounds like part of my personality, but there is another part of my personality that doesn't fit very well with this type. My personality is so affected by my shifts in mood that I almost become a different people depending on my mood. When I'm manic I love being the center of attention at a party, but when I'm not I like to stick to the walls. Oh well... ![]()
Oh yeah... I am INTP.
Thanks for sharing!![]()

Yep, I know what you mean about some of the questions being hard to answer, I think it's our inconsistencies that those close to us often find so hard to deal with..
Saying that, I could recognize you from your results, and noticed a couple of lines that jumped out:
"In seasons of low energy level, or moments of single-minded concentration, the INTP is aloof and detached in a way that might even offend more relational or extraverted individuals."
Hmmmmnnn mentions seasonal effects..
and
"INTPs are at risk of being swept away by the shadow in the form of their own strong emotional impulses."
Un-huh... :-)
Of course this is me:
"Their amazing ability to deduce the inner workings of the mind, will and emotions of others gives INFJs their reputation as prophets and seers."
Yep..Bipolar I...
"INFJs, like their fellow intuitives, may be so absorbed in intuitive perceiving that they become oblivious to physical reality"
That's when they take you to the hospital...lol
and
'While instinctively courting the personal and organizational demands continually made upon them by others, at intervals INFJs will suddenly withdraw into themselves, sometimes shutting out even their intimates. This apparent paradox is a necessary escape valve for them, providing both time to rebuild their depleted resources and a filter to prevent the emotional overload to which they are so susceptible as inherent "givers." '
Emotional overload...oh yeah!!!

Wow, mine is ISFP...it says that I can be compulsive and act in the "here and now", (kinda describes my manic moods)...and that I have a connection with animals (very true)... "Very likely the difficulty comes from their tendency not to express themselves verbally, but through their works of art". So true, I write ALOT so thats how I express myself...that was fun...lol, but i bet if i was manic right now or depressed it would come out totally different...lol.

I am INFP. So, yeah I'm supposed to be a writer. All the career and personality tests I take say so.
Holy crap... http://keirsey.com/handler.aspx?s=keirs … p;c=healer
The description according to the above site is really accurate. It explains my current relationship issues.

I am an INTJ
love these things and I won't deny that being called a mastermind has brought a smile to my face lol.
"many INTJs do not readily grasp the social rituals; for instance, they tend to have little patience and less understanding of such things as small talk and flirtation (which most types consider half the fun of a relationship). To complicate matters, INTJs are usually extremely private people, and can often be naturally impassive as well, which makes them easy to misread and misunderstand."
This probably explains why i don't do exceptionally well in relationships either.

I love the Myers-Briggs personality test! I've taken this several times and have gotten the same result in each. In college I was the only person who got my personality type, which is stunning because, bendeecat, we are the same. INFJ. We are the rarest! I stood in a room with about 1,000 people who were grouped into personality type and I was the only one with INFJ. Horray for being gawked at like a science experiment!

There is a reason why this sort of personality typing isn't used in proper cognitive investigation. It's about as accurate as horoscopes. Which is to say it is unreliable and isn't an accurate predictor at all.
