How is Bipolar Disorder treated?
Bipolar disorder is treated using a number of pharmacological, psychotherapeutic and psychosocial techniques. Pharmacological treatments include prescribed medication (mood stabilizers, anticonvulsants, antidepressants, etc.), psychotherapeutic treatment can include psychotherapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, family focused therapy and psychoeducation therapy. The latter techniques help individuals recognize triggers, reduce/recognize stress, break negative thought patterns, build healthy behavioural habits and reactions.
